Lou Barber served twenty years in the military service. He graduated from the US Army flight school in 1964. He went on to fly most of the aircraft in the Army's inventory including fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Lou was an assault helicopter flight leader assigned to the First Cavalry Division, 1966-1967, in the Central Highlands , Vietnam. Between tours, he was a test pilot on the AH-1G Huey Cobra, the world's first attack helicopter. In 1972, Lou retired as a Major at Fort Rucker, Alabama. |
